African-American Cinema Gallery Exhibit (12:00PM - 11:59PM)
AACG is an inspirational tribute to Black actors, actresses and authors whose creativity has inspired the nation throughout history. It’s a touring multimedia presentation, which consists of an exhibit that covers numerous African American films, more than 100 actors and actresses, and many drama series and sitcoms. It also includes essays, posters, news clippings, books, screenplays, exclusive children collectibles-dolls, action figures and cartoon characters, rare photos and famous quotes of great actors and actresses and much more. This collection contains more than 100 one of a kind items of memorabilia. Located in the Upper Exchange at Underground Atlanta, every Saturday in February, 12:00pm – 6:00pm.


Black In Film Speaker Series (2:00PM - 11:59PM)
Join us at 2:00 pm each Saturday in February for the Black In Film Speaker Series. The Black in Film Speaker Series is presented by the African American Cinema Gallery and The Peachtree Village International Film Festival. The series takes you on a journey along a path of success stories and triumphs of African American cinema artists. This journey will give you a practical lesson on the Black experience in Hollywood. It is meant to inspire people to appreciate the value of black film and literature through creative thinking, dreaming and turning that dream into a reality. Immediately following each screening, a Q&A session will take place. A panel of cinema experts will be onsite to answer questions about the film industry. Featured Films: Saturday, February 4 School Daze; Saturday, February 11 Cornbread Earl & Me; Saturday, February 18 A Century of Black Cinema (Documentary); Saturday, February 25 Soul Food (an Episode from the series).

Prince Nefew and DaMill “Black History 101.” Young Hip Hop artists “Prince Nefew and DaMill present a skit that takes you from Ancient Africa to life on a plantation, the civil rights movement, to President Barak H. Obama all while getting to hear from some of history’s most prominent African Americans. This presentation is done with music and artifacts that take the viewer on a journey. EVERY THURSDAY, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM. Also Featuring Book Readings and Discussions of Children’s Books by Author Kim Worthy - “Poetry is not just Rhyming” and Author Salena Perry - “Recipe for Chocolate Soup.”

Coastal Youth Theater of Voices - “Our Soul is a Witness” - Saturday February 18th - Show times: 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm. --- Coastal Youth Theater of Voices “Our Soul Is A Witness” Comprised of three short one-act plays titled Young People’s Club of Black History; The Harlem Renaissance; and Feel The Spirit! This theatrical program recreates through poetry and drama, the hardships, struggles, love and laughter of a determined people of many talents that captured the world. It pronounces the fortitude and wisdom of a people, who refuse to allow slavery, Jim Crow, racism, discrimination, and denial of education to destroy their history, brilliance and culture. It acknowledges the fortitude of a people who resisted brutality, the bitterness of enslavement, and lifted their spirits with song, dance and poetry. Our Soul Is A Witness reinforces an eternal gift of wisdom and power passed down through the Ancestors to the children.

African-American Cinema Gallery Exhibit (12:00PM - 11:59PM)
AACG is an inspirational tribute to Black actors, actresses and authors whose creativity has inspired the nation throughout history. It’s a touring multimedia presentation, which consists of an exhibit that covers numerous African American films, more than 100 actors and actresses, and many drama series and sitcoms. It also includes essays, posters, news clippings, books, screenplays, exclusive children collectibles-dolls, action figures and cartoon characters, rare photos and famous quotes of great actors and actresses and much more. This collection contains more than 100 one of a kind items of memorabilia. Located in the Upper Exchange at Underground Atlanta, every Saturday in February, 12:00pm – 6:00pm.


Black In Film Speaker Series (2:00PM - 11:59PM)
Join us at 2:00 pm each Saturday in February for the Black In Film Speaker Series. The Black in Film Speaker Series is presented by the African American Cinema Gallery and The Peachtree Village International Film Festival. The series takes you on a journey along a path of success stories and triumphs of African American cinema artists. This journey will give you a practical lesson on the Black experience in Hollywood. It is meant to inspire people to appreciate the value of black film and literature through creative thinking, dreaming and turning that dream into a reality. Immediately following each screening, a Q&A session will take place. A panel of cinema experts will be onsite to answer questions about the film industry. Washington, Dr, Daniel Hale Williams) were chosen to highlight Black men who defied odds in many areas to achieve goals as scholars, educators, writers, orator, statesmen, activists, scientists and pioneering physicians. This exhibit was curated by APEX Museum 2011 interns. Their goal is to empower, and enlighten other youth and inspire them to achieve higher education. SANKOFA II: This is an original exhibition of artifacts extended from the museum’s entire Sankofa collection of African art & artifacts. Sankofa is often associated with the Akan proverb, “Se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi," which translates "It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten.
