Exhibitions: GREAT MINDS:DEFYING THE ODDS - The APEX presents this exhibit to reinforce the importance of education. The few great minds (George Washington Carver, WEB DuBois, Paul Dunbar, Frederick Douglas, Dr. Charles Drew, Booker T. Washington, Dr, Daniel Hale Williams) were chosen to highlight Black men who defied odds in many areas to achieve goals as scholars, educators, writers, orator, statesmen, activists, scientists and pioneering physicians. This exhibit was curated by APEX Museum 2011 interns. Their goal is to empower, and enlighten other youth and inspire them to achieve higher education. SANKOFA II: This is an original exhibition of artifacts extended from the museum’s entire Sankofa collection of African art & artifacts. Sankofa is often associated with the Akan proverb, “Se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi," which translates "It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten. The original collections consists of 110 pieces predominantly from West Africa, but includes items from other locations. EXHIBIT HOURS OF OPERATION: Tuesday – Friday 10:00am – 4:00pm.
